State
Rep. Jamie Boles, currently serving
his second term in the N.C. General
Assembly, recently received
recognition by two leading state and
national conservative organizations
for his service. The North
Carolina Civitas Institute annually
ranks House members based on their
"conservative effectiveness"
through a system that is derived by
analyzing votes on important
legislation. Out of the 120
members in the House, Boles was ranked
31st in effectiveness, according to
the Civitas Institute. Boles
earned a 91.6 percent rating for
conservative votes cast since the
session began in January 2011.
The American Conservative Union (ACU),
a leading voice on national
grass-roots conservative issues,
recently rated North Carolina's state
legislature based on their analysis of
critical issues. Based on those
ratings, Boles was given the
"Defender of Liberty" award
for scoring 100 percent on the ACU
2011 State Legislative Rankings.
"This type of recognition
confirms my efforts toward honoring my
campaign commitments," Boles
said. "We have been working to
responsibly 'right-size' state
government and lessen the tax and
regulatory burden in an effort to make
North Carolina more conducive to
job-creation. "I am pleased
by the positive recognition of my
conservative voting record on these
and other issues."
CONGRATULATIONS
ELIZABETH!!
The
Winner of the NCFRW's 2011 Essay
Contest
Elizabeth
Vaughan, an 8th grader,
at Elise Middle School in Robbins, NC,
wrote the following in a statewide
competition.
It
was a required assignment by her
teacher, Franklin Morgan, that all of
his classes write an essay for the
competition.
The
judging is done by five Federation
area chairs, each selecting, by
committee, the best of her area. The
five winners are then sent to the
Essay Chair, and the best is selected
by committee. For the past two years
the Chairwoman has been our own MRW
member, Pud Kent, who has done an
outstanding job selecting the winners.
Elizabeth was invited to read her
essay at the NCFRW Spring Board
Meeting in Hickory, NC on May 7th, and
later came to share it with our
members at the June 6, MRW luncheon.
Elizabeth is now in the 9th grade, and
we are very proud that she holds the
honor of being the 2011 winner from
Moore County. Enjoy her personal words
of pride!

BOOK NEWS
Dr. Clare Gray spoke to MRW in April, and mentioned his book
that was due to be published.
Here is a link for
The
Battle for America's Soul.
The book not only reframes the healthcare debate for the
2012 elections and lays out the basis of conservative
thought, it expands the battle of world views beyond health
care to the other major issues facing our nation, i.e the
rule of law (Supreme Court), foreign policy, education, and
the implications of postmodern politics. It is easy to
order, youwill enjoy reading this most
informative book!
