PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE from Lane Bergstrom....

With only two weeks before the Primary, early voting has started, and we are anxious to find out who the candidates will be in the November election. When I read the following article, it made me realize just how far we have come, but what we have lost is the most important part of our senses. You may agree with the following ..........

An Obituary printed in the London Times ... LONDON, February 7, 2012

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-yearold boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.  It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, launched a lawsuit and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

We must make the difference count in the months ahead!!

Thom was elected to the NC House of Representatives in 2006, and at the end of his freshman term in 2008, he was elected the House Republican Whip, one of two elected leadership positions in the House Caucus. In 2009, Thom was the highest-rated (#1) legislator for promoting a business-friendly environment among the 120 members of the NC House. Thom left IBM in 2009 to focus his attention on serving the people of North Carolina in the House of Representatives and leading the 2010 House Republican Caucus Campaign Committee. His goal as Secretary of State is to get our business climate back to one which is conducive to job creation and new industry recruitment. Reducing burdensome regulations, cutting taxes and providing a more transparent government will be at the forefront of his agenda. Ed Goodwin has extensive leadership experience in business, military (USAF), government, as an NCIS Special Agent for 23 years, and conservative politics. State Convention
June 1-3, 2012
Koury Convention Center - Greensboro NC

During June 1st – 3rd we will hold our state convention at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. This year’s convention will be like no other. In the 2012 election, no state will have a greater impact than North Carolina. The Tar Heel State is at the crux of the Obama re-election strategy, as evident by the constant stream of visits from Obama and his administration surrogates and will culminate with the Democratic National Convention coming to Charlotte in September. Even with all the attention from the national Democrats, North Carolina features the nation’s premiere gubernatorial contest and has the opportunity to pick up four congressional seats.

Our Convention is the place to be to learn, socialize, and train with thousands of other Republicans. Take the opportunity to register for convention, come hear our special guests and learn how to make your county Republican organization better so we can make history!

Republican Principles

We Believe… the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

We Believe… in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.

We Believe… free enterprise and the encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

We Believe… government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of their own money they earn.

We Believe… the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be preformed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.

We Believe… the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

We Believe… Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

We Believe… Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

We Believe… the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
